Faculty nominations sought for Leadership in Academic Medicine Program

Nominations are being sought for this year's Leadership in Academic Medicine Program.
This year-long, cohort-based faculty development and orientation program is designed for faculty in their second and third years of their appointment. It provides faculty with tools that will enable them to accomplish their career goals. Hosted by the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development, the seminars include topics such as the fundamentals of career planning, self-management and leadership skills.
"We focus on junior faculty in their second and third years because our research indicates the timing is right for this kind of intervention," says Emily Walvoord, M.D., assistant dean and associate clinical professor of pediatric endocrinology. "The cohort model helps the participants to build their network and learn in a supportive environment."
Faculty who participate in Leadership in Academic Medicine Program will be expected to attend one meeting per month from August through May. Because of the time investment required, all applicants must solicit a letter of support from their chair or division director.
Deadline for nominations is Friday, June 27. All nominations should be sent to email@example.com. Self-nominations are encouraged. Once nominations are received, the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development will contact those individuals to complete the application process.
Space is limited in order to ensure a personalized approach to the participants' academic goals and career plan.
