Four IU School of Medicine faculty members receive honors
Feb. 20, 2014
David Crabb, M.D., chair and John B. Hickam Professor of Medicine at the IU School of Medicine, and Asok Anthony, M.D., professor of medicine at the IU School of Medicine, have been inducted as Masters in the American College of Physicians.

Kathy Miller, M.D.
Individuals who received this honor must be fellows of the ACP, a national organization of internists. Personal character, professional accomplishments and other achievements are measured after a person is nominated as a master. The first Mastership in the College was presented in 1923. Since that time, only 15 physicians from Indiana have been awarded the honor.
Kathy Miller, M.D., associate professor of medicine and Ballvé Lantero and Scholar in Oncology at the IU School of Medicine, has been appointed chair of the breast cancer committee for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and American College of Radiology Imaging Network, a multidisciplinary, membership-based scientific organization that designs and conducts biomarker-driven cancer research involving adults who have or are at risk of developing cancer.
Dr. Miller previously served as co-chair of the committee and has been the lead investigator on several of the group’s landmark breast cancer clinical trials. She also serves as co-leader of the breast cancer program at the IU Simon Cancer Center.

Bernadette Rodak, MS
Bernadette Rodak, MS, professor emeritus of clinical laboratory sciences and of pathology and laboratory medicine at the IU School of Medicine, has been named the recipient of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science Robin H. Mendelson Award in honor of outstanding service and contributions to the ASCLS, the ASCLS Education and Research Fund and to the CLS profession.
The award was established in 1971 to commemorate an individual who struggled courageously for five years through kidney dialysis and two transplants during the infancy of transplant technology.
The award, which was presented during the ASCLS annual meeting in August 2013, is sponsored by the ASCL board of directors and administered by the Education and Research Fund.
