Welcome to the new InScope!
This weekly e-newsletter, published every Thursday, is the latest update to the publication previously known as Scope, the official internal newsletter for faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, residents and students at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
This new design will provide greater opportunities to share stories and need-to-know information with the more than 8,000 subscribers who received Scope each week via their email inboxes, including images and other multimedia content, an expanded website, streamable audio from Sound Medicine and easy access to the IU School of Medicine’s social media channels.
Scope’s redesign is preceded by the rollout of Inside IU, the newsletter for faculty and staff across all of IU's campuses; Inside IUPUI for the IUPUI campus; and Inside IU Bloomington. The new name, InScope, aligns with the names of these publications. Each of these publications, including Scope, has been overseen by IU Communications since June 2011.
The first issue of Scope was released June 2, 1997, as a two-sided printed publication. It later transitioned to an electronic format designed to be downloaded and read as a PDF, then a weekly digest and website delivered via email. Subject categories were added in 2010 in response to reader feedback. Throughout these changes, Scope has continued to grow in length, frequency and readership.
This latest change will not affect our focus on news and events of interest to the IU School of Medicine community. News tip, stories, events, student activities, grant opportunities, award announcements and other news items are welcome. News and tips from the IU School of Medicine’s eight regional campuses are especially encouraged.
The deadline for submissions has been moved to 8:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. In addition, Scope’s “Events Reminders” section will be replaced with the IUPUI Events Calendar’s IU School of Medicine events calendar with most events linked to this resource. Outside groups may also request access to the calendar to post their events.
If possible, please include an image with your submissions. These images may also be used on the IUSM Homepage or MEDTV, the IU School of Medicine’s campus-wide digital signage system.
