Michelle Howenstine appointed assistant dean for Graduate Medical Education

Michelle Howenstine, M.D., professor of clinical pediatrics at the IU School of Medicine, has been selected to serve as the assistant dean for Graduate Medical Education.

As a member of the leadership team, Dr. Howenstine will be responsible to develop, implement and assess the programs and services provided by the office and will work directly with faculty and staff who lead our residency and fellowship programs to successfully address new accreditations standards and the review of the clinical learning environment.

Dr. Howenstine currently serves as director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and director of the fellowship program in pediatric pulmonology.

She recently completed the Leadership in Educational Academic Development Program, a national professional development program sponsored by the Association of Pediatric Program Directors.

Dr. Howenstine's appointment is a new position in the IU School of Medicine Office of Graduate Medical Education.
