"We are extremely excited to partner with AMWA, especially at this landmark time in the organization’s history," said Alexander M. Djuricich, M.D., associate dean for continuing medical education and associate professor of clinical pediatrics and medicine at the IU School of Medicine. "The annual meeting is the leading strategic career and personal development conference for women physicians, medical students and residents, and our division of continuing medical education is proud to have a role in accrediting the conference’s educational activities and furthering its important mission."

AMWA’s executive committee and board members are practicing physicians located across the nation, including Theresa Rohr-Kirchgraber, M.D., associate professor of clinical pediatrics and medicine at the IU School of Medicine and executive director of the National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health, who is an AMWA board member.

Dr. Rohr-Kirchgraber expressed great enthusiasm about the partnership, noting the responsiveness and commitment of IUSM CME as an educational partner. She also pointed out her appreciation for the educational and conference-planning expertise that IUSM CME will provide to the AMWA's annual event, especially for busy physicians who take on the event in addition to their primary work as physicians and leaders in their fields and communities.

Among the many esteemed speakers at this year’s 99th annual AMWA conference from March 14 to 16 in Washington, D.C., are:

  • Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
  • Sharonne N. Hayes, M.D., professor of medicine and cardiovascular diseases and founder of the Women’s Heart Clinic at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester Minn.
  • Arianna Huffington, president, chair and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group.

This year’s conference will also feature educational topics such as "Food Insecurity and Global Women’s Health," "Sex and Gender Considerations in Cardiovascular Disease" and "HPV Vaccination and our Adolescent Population."

IUSM has approved the event for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. For additional information about the AMWA annual conference, as well as all IU School of Medicine Continuing Medical Education activities, visit the IUSM CME website.
