IUPUI Campus Health hosting multiple outreach flu clinics
Oct. 10, 2013
IUPUI Campus Health announces that it has received a total of 8,000 seasonal flu vaccines. The flu vaccines are free to all IUPUI faculty, staff and students. Faculty, staff, house staff and students must present a valid IUPUI picture ID in order to receive their flu shot.
IU School of Medicine faculty, staff, students, fellows and residents considered employees, affiliated physicians, volunteers, students, contractors and vendors at IU Health and Wishard Health Services are required to receive an influenza vaccination this flu season.
IUPUI CH will be holding multiple outreach flu clinics through November, including two full-day sessions (Oct 14-15) in the Medical Sciences Atrium. Faculty, staff, house staff and students are strongly encouraged to get their flu vaccine at one of these outreach clinics. These clinics are staffed in order to make the process quick and easy.
Flu shots are also available at IUPUI Campus Health (Coleman Hall, Suite 100; 1140 West Michigan Street) for IUPUI faculty, staff, house staff and students. Flu vaccines are available at Campus Center Student Health (CE 213) for students only.
Individuals who receive a flu vaccine at an IUPUI CH outreach clinic, Campus Health or Campus Center Student Health will receive a copy of their consent form to use as documentation of their vaccine.
Faculty physicians and house staff may also be able to receive a flu shot in the clinic where they work or at the hospital where they work. If you choose to do so, please scan documentation of your flu vaccine to healthsv@iupui.edu or fax such documentation to 278-6929. IUPUI Campus Health is responsible for tracking flu vaccines of IUPUI faculty, staff, house staff and students. If you receive your flu vaccine from a location other than Campus Health, Campus Center Student Health or one of our outreach clinics, it is your responsibility to send documentation to us.
The best tool to prevent flu is to receive a flu shot. Health care workers are strongly encouraged to receive a flu shot to protect both themselves and their patients. In addition, appropriate hygiene procedures, such as coughing into one’s sleeve and frequent use of hand sanitizer, are useful measures to prevent the spread of flu.
