Neuroscience Strategic Research Initiative seeks grant applications

Nov. 14, 2013

The Neuroscience Strategic Research Initiative is seeking applications for research grants to support clinical and translational research projects in all areas associated with the IU Health Neuroscience Service Line and to the broader neuroscience community.

The research projects supported by this initiative must be relevant to the area of clinical and translational neuroscience with priority on studies in neurodegenerative disorders, neurotrauma, and neurodevelopmental disorders and provide information that will enhance an application for a larger extramurally funded research activity.

Applicant may request up to $50,000 per year for two years; a $100,000 total.

Successful proposals will demonstrate scientific merit and a potential for generating extramural funding. Priority will be given to those projects that utilize more than one IU Health hospital or facility for leveraging existing patient populations or clinical programs and/or projects that will potentially lead to improvements in the quality of care for IU Health patients.

Applicants must have an IU faculty appointment, or demonstrate a close link to the IU Health neuroscience service line physicians. IU Health physicians with affiliate appointments are eligible to apply. Faculty from other Indiana CTSI partner institutions (IU, Purdue University and the University of Notre Dame) are eligible to apply if the study is linked to IU Health facilities.

A letter of intent is due Monday, Dec. 2. Applications are due 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20.

To learn about this program or access the application form, visit Indiana CTSI's website and log in using your institutional username and password.

Application instructions are under "Translational / Clinical Neuroscience Pilot Grant Program - 2013.12."
