Physician Payment Sunshine Act: Register now for access to your data
June 19, 2014
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will post its first report on payments to physicians this September.
If you are a physician who has received a direct payment (e.g. research grant, speaking fee) or transfer of value (e.g. food/beverage, gifts) from a manufacturer of drugs, medical devices, biological or medical supplies, on August 1, 2013 or after, this value will be included in the publically available report.
Physicians may preview their information in this first “Open Payments” report, and dispute inaccuracies, only if they are registered on the CMS website before Monday, June 30.
This downloadable FAQ document has information on how to register, what gets reported, as well as background on the physician payment report and how physicians may be affected.
For more information visit the Official Website for Open Payments.
