IU School of Medicine Spring Faculty Meeting to update on curricular reform, dean's search and strategic planning projects

Feb. 14, 2013

Each semester, Indiana University School of Medicine faculty gather to discuss issues of importance to the group at large.

The 2013 IU School of Medicine Spring Faculty Meeting will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Riley Outpatient Center auditorium.

"I strongly encourage all medical school faculty to attend the Spring Faculty Meeting, in person, on-line, or by webcam,” said Jerry Young, M.D., president of the IU School of Medicine Faculty Council and professor of clinical anesthesia. “We plan to discuss significant updates to the Curriculum, and faculty participation is important."

This semester’s meeting will include a presentation on the curricular reform process by Maryellen Gusic, M.D., executive associate dean for educational affairs and Dolores and John Read Senior Professorship in Medical Education.

Other items on the agenda include an executive update from IU School of Medicine Dean D. Craig Brater, M.D., or one of the school’s executive associate deans, and a ballot announcement for the 2013-2014 Faculty Elections.

“The voice of the faculty must be heard if the institution is to make changes that will lead to a better future,” said Stephen Bogdewic, Ph.D., executive associate dean for faculty affairs and professional development and George W. Copeland Professor of Family Medicine. “The spring faculty meeting is an important forum for discussion of such overarching issues as the curricular change, the search for a new dean and the strategic planning taking place on the IUPUI campus.”

“You are strongly encouraged to attend and let your voice be heard,” he added.
